A man has been sent to prison after he admitted killing a seagull.
Peter Smale, 57, pleaded guilty to killing a wild bird, a herring gull, in Falmouth, Cornwall, on July 18.
Mr Smale, of Falmouth, appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
All species of gull are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985.
